  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

    An active U.S. Government Secret Clearance is required within 24 months of hire. Due to the nature of work performed at our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an exciting position in our sunny Orlando, Florida location. We are seeking a Hardware Lead Systems Engineer / Architect who will technically contribute to the Intelligence Electronic Warfare Tactical Proficiency Trainer (IEWTPT), Consolidated Product line Management Next (CPM Next), and Life Cycle Product-Line Management (LCPM) contracts. You will be a part of the development of next generation military C2 training environments using Modeling and Simulation. In this role you will:

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Contribute to detailed domain analysis of the Live Training Transformation (LT2) infrastructure, to support life cycle management as the foundation to provide Training as a Service (TaaS)
    • Perform and lead activities in Live/Virtual/Constructive (LVC) domain to include Interoperability requirements, designs and implementations, as required to support the LT2 Product Line
    • Perform and lead TDP development and analysis including drawings to support Physical and Functional Configuration Audits (PCA/FCA) events
    • Perform and lead technical planning, cost and risk analyses, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for subsystems and system elements
    • Design and analyze systems, and equipment including computational, network and mechanical interfaces Conduct feasibility studies and test new and modified designs
    • Perform and lead customer requirements analysis, develops system requirements and defines allocations to lower levels (subsystem, elements and components)
    • Perform and lead detailed technical analyses for a system, subsystem or system elements to include: concept, requirements, design, fabrication, integration, test, acceptance, delivery, installation, training, operation, maintenance and disposal
    • Lead and Contribute to detailed technical analyses at the system of system (SOS) level
    • Synthesize solutions to meet customer expectations and technical performance while staying within schedule and cost constraints
    • Research and analyze data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
    • Effectively choose the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products
    • Provide engineering support to manufacturing/operations
    • Lead proposal technical volume
    • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
    • Lead and guide the successful completion of major programs and projects

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Good understanding of DoD (PEO STRI preferred) Technical Data Package (TDP) requirements
    • Has a holistic understanding of the entire engineering development process augmented with actual experience with engineering design documentation (drawings and specifications), procurement processes, factory floor fabrication, production and integration, factory or in-plant test and integration, and shipping and receiving processes.
    • Experience with field delivery, integration and test, and selloff is particularly important. Understands the needs and requirements of system operators and users, and uses this understanding to influence system design improvements.
    • Experience in process and process design with the ability to create or revises processes to improve product performance and process effectiveness.
    • Hands-On experience in all aspects of design, integration, testing, and simulation communication systems, US Army Training systems, test equipment and simulation systems
    • Experience in integrating MILES system variants is a plus including Basic MILES, IWS, ITESS II, WITS and MILES XXI with Instrumentation Radios including 3G, KTS, JTRS and IRS
    • Technical experience in Life Cycle Development and management (from concept through disposal) including Software, Hardware, Logistics and Training products
    • Domain experience in the Modeling and Simulation domain in Live, Virtual and Constructive
    • Proven experience in leading technical teams
    • Experience in Product Line Engineering and Product Lifecycle Management
    • Proven experience in technical writing and leading proposal technical volume
    • Has the ability to distill disparate requests and desires into concise solutions that meets the needs of the various stakeholders in an effective manner.
    • Has the ability to view the system and system processes from various stakeholders point of view without bias.
    • A minimum of 15 years related experience
