    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Advanced Mechanical Design/Drafter.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
     

    An Advanced Mechanical Design/Drafter is needed to work with our engineers to document new electronic circuit cards and circuit card assemblies. The selected candidate will also assist creating models and documenting chassis assemblies to contain electronic circuit cards for a harsh military environment.  Duties will include documentation for Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and mechanical CAD component model creation.

     


    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Must be able to demonstrate excellent Creo (Pro/E) skills
    • Ability to create fabrication and assembly drawings
    • Experience creating Creo (Pro/E) models that minimize unnecessary features and facilitate revisions as needed
    • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) basic understanding
    • Experience creating sheet metal, weldments, machine parts and assembly models from engineering concepts


    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

    • Previous aerospace or electronic industry experience is highly desirable
    • Experience with PDMLink
    • Experience analyzing tolerance stackups
    • Knowledge of electronic PCB layout and construction and interface to mechanical design
    • Knowledge of connector and cable assembly concepts and terminology
    • Experience with Mentor Graphics xDM Library (DMS) editor electronic symbol generation
    • Hands-on experience of a product from initial concept to production
    • Experience with assembly of prototypes and factory exposure is a plus 

     

    PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

    • Work 9-hour days
    • Use a CAD PC workstation and whiteboard as primary work equipment
    • Ability to move around to meetings within building
    • Perform frequent internal conversations with others regarding assignment details
