  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an exciting position in our sunny Orlando, Florida location. We are seeking an Lead Systems Engineer who will technically contribute to the Consolidated Product line Management – Next (CPM-Next) contract. You will be a part of the development of next generation military C2 training and testing environments using Modeling and Simulation.

    In this role as Lead Systems Engineer, you will:

    • Perform and lead activities in Live/Virtual/Constructive (LVC) domain to include Interoperability requirements, designs and implementations, as required to support the LT2 and ILTE Product Lines

    • Perform and lead TDP development and analysis including drawings to support Physical and Functional Configuration Audits (PCA/FCA) events
    • Perform and lead technical planning, cost and risk analyses, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for subsystems and system elements
    • Design and analyze systems, and equipment including computational, network and mechanical interfaces Conduct feasibility studies and test new and modified designs
    • Perform and lead customer requirements analysis, develops system requirements and defines allocations to lower levels (subsystem, elements and components)
    • Perform and lead detailed technical analyses for a system, subsystem or system elements to include: concept, requirements, design, fabrication, integration, test, acceptance, delivery, installation, training, operation, maintenance and disposal
    • Lead and Contribute to detailed technical analyses at the system of system (SOS) level
    • Plan the technical approach, resources, schedule, budget and equipment required for testing and evaluating new systems, products and special devices

    • Lead the test approach and document system verification throughout the engineering development lifecycle

    • Generate system test work products (Test Plans, Procedures and results) by applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools

    • Perform test activities; conduct Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), Dry run test procedures, Regression test, Systems Acceptance Test (SAT) and Government Acceptance Test (GAT)
    • Prepare test and diagnostic programs, designs test fixtures and equipment, and completes specifications and procedures for new products

    • Lead the development and coordinates functional, environmental, operational, and/or performance tests on hardware, software, and systems

    • Lead the design, development and implementation of cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting of hardware, software and systems for all phases of product development and manufacturing

    • Synthesize solutions to meet customer expectations and technical performance while staying within schedule and cost constraints
    • Research and analyze data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
    • Effectively choose the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products
    • Provide engineering support to manufacturing/operations
    • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
    • Lead and guide the successful completion of major programs and projects
    • Lead medium technical proposals for CPM or other contractual delivery orders, as required
    • Publish white papers; prepare presentations and briefings to customer and industry partners, as required
    • Participate in working groups and LT2/product control boards (such as the Architecture Control Board)
    • Attend technical interchange meetings, as required, to interface to other architecture working groups and customer representatives

     

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Substantial knowledge of the US Army T&E organizations and processes
    • Ability to correlate between the objectives of DoD Acquisition Program T&E and those of the Training Community
    • Substantial use, understanding and tailoring of systems test concepts, principles, and tools
    • Substantial use, understanding and tailoring of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
    • Frequently contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas
    • Major contributor to the achievement of business objectives
    • Substantial proficiency with requirements management, Systems test, system design & system modeling tools
    • Recognizes various architectural patterns, applies them appropriately, understands strengths/weaknesses within those architectures and develops architectural variations as necessary
    • Familiar with Enterprise Architecture Frameworks
    • Substantial proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    • Substantial written and verbal communications skills
    • Creative thinker
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Substantial skills in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
    • Substantial ability to clearly report information relevant to sound systems engineering design
    • Substantial understanding and ability to apply project leadership principles including SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls.
